What Happens When You Plant an Underground Church
When you sponsor the planting of an underground church, you’re doing far more than funding a project — you’re igniting a movement of the Gospel in one of the most spiritually dark and unreached regions of the world.
In many of the areas where One Way Ministries International serves, it’s dangerous or even illegal to build or publicly gather as a church. That’s why we follow the Luke 10 model — just as Jesus sent His disciples to go two by two, praying for a “person of peace” who would open the door for the message of Christ in their community.
How a Church Is Planted
Prayer & Guidance from the Holy Spirit
Everything begins with prayer. Our indigenous leaders seek God for direction—asking Him to reveal the right village, family, or person of peace who is ready to receive the Gospel.Finding the Person of Peace
Once God highlights a place or person, two trained leaders go to meet them. Often, these people are struggling with sickness, oppression, or family problems. When our leaders pray for them, many are healed or experience God’s power—and this miraculous encounter opens hearts to the Good News.Gathering the First Church
The healed individual or “person of peace” then invites their friends, neighbors, and family to hear more. Meetings begin in their home, under a tree, or in a simple open space. These gatherings quickly become the foundation of a new underground church.Growing & Discipling
Over the next few months, our leaders continue returning to teach, pray, and disciple the new believers. Your sponsorship provides for fuel, simple refreshments (like water, tea, or snacks), and travel costs so these leaders can keep coming back until the group becomes strong.Appointing a Pastor
Once the church is healthy and multiplying, a local pastor is appointed to shepherd the believers. The original church planter continues to oversee them—ensuring the church remains strong and reproduces itself into other nearby villages, forming a network of new believers.
What Your Sponsorship Provides
Your giving directly covers:
Fuel for transportation as our teams travel to remote villages.
Snacks and drinks for small gatherings as the new church takes root.
Ongoing visits and discipleship for the first several months.
Training and materials for the new pastors and believers.
In time, these gatherings become self-sustaining, multiplying churches that reproduce new disciples and leaders—true multi-generational movements of the Gospel.
By planting one underground church, you’re helping reach people who may have never heard the name of Jesus before—and you’re helping raise up local believers who will continue spreading His love long after the first seed is planted.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” — Luke 10:2
Your partnership makes you part of that answer. Together, we’re reaching the unreached—one church, one village, one soul at a time.
